- What Works. The Work Program: Improving outcomes for Indigenous students
Part of a national effort to improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, What Works encourages school principals and teachers to have high expectations of Indigenous student success and to develop a range of strategies that are linked to performance indicators and targets for Indigenous students. It is based on research that shows Indigenous students are more likely to experience educational success if their educators all share a fundamental belief in the value of what they are doing and the prospect of success.
The program is a Commonwealth-funded part of the Indigenous Education Strategic Initiatives Programme's Strategic Results Projects (IESIP SRPs). A professional development package which includes a Guidebook, a Workbook, a CD-ROM, and a teacher discussion forum is available from the site.- Wongai EdQld Torres Strait education website
