classroom. The enormity of the September 11 attacks and the more recent
London bombings have everyone thinking, is Australia next? How do you
answer students' questions without instilling fear? How can you attempt to
dispel the myths and generalisations surrounding such a complex issue?

Trusted by teachers and enjoyed by students, Behind the News is a
high energy, fun way for upper primary and lower secondary students to
understand current issues and events in their world. The program explores
the major news events of the week, using the language, music and popular
culture of young people. It explains the concepts that underpin
the issues and events, whilst also providing background information that
puts current affairs into context. Behind the News also
covers kids' issues often overlooked by mainstream news.
The new website will be highly interactive, including video-on-demand,
quizzes, polls, forums and a mailing list. The site will provide expanded
