This resource will raise awareness about APEC and develop student knowledge, understanding and appreciation of its work, as well as its importance to Australia and the region. It provides teaching and learning materials about APEC. The resource has been provided to every Australian secondary school in print format, and the materials are also available through this website.

Phonics teaching high on UK agenda for young children
The UK government has renewed its commitment to high quality phonics teaching. The new phonics teaching program 'Letters and Sounds' sees children learning the correspondences between letters and sounds by blending sounds together instead of guessing words using pictures as clues. This all takes place during fast paced, daily classroom sessions based on a six-phase teaching program.

The Future of Schooling in Australia
This report proposes a new national framework for Australian schooling by the states and territories. The framework is based on the premise that the quality and performance of teachers, schools and jurisdictions are central to the life prospects of every student and to national prosperity.
A decision to undertake a review of the 1999 Adelaide Declaration on Schooling was made by the Premiers and Chief Ministers of the states and territories at the Council for the Australian Federation inaugural meeting on 13 October 2006.
