About journal lists
Every time you start to type a journal name into an EndNote reference in a library, EndNote checks the Journal List for that library to see if you have typed it before. If you have, it will automatically complete the journal name for you, eg:-any journal on the Journal List needs only to be typed once.)
EndNote has created lists of many common journal names in various disciplines which you can import into your library to save typing. These lists have been updated and expanded by John East at the University of Queensland, and are linked below.
How journal lists work
Not only do journal lists save you typing the complete title over and over, they can also be used to put an abbreviation into your bibliography, even though you have the full name of the journal typed in your library. This function resides in the Output Style:
Edit your output style to use abbreviations by opening the style:

Select "Journal Names" option, and mark "Abbreviation 1" radio button:

Save the change and your "Show preview" option in EndNote will display the abbreviation even though the library reference contains the full title:
