Getting EndNote

Before you start: you must install EndNote AFTER you have installed your word processing program because EndNote writes its own toolbar into Word using a macro. This can cause problems if you have a machine firewall set up. Contact JCU EndNote help if you are having problems.

Online Download

You can download EndNote 9,10 or X1after you authenticate yourself on this webpage. You will be required to register before the files can be downloaded. Please note that these are large files: The windows version of the file is 34MB, the Mac version of the file is 193MB.

10/01/08 New patch: EndNote X1.0.1 for Windows includes support for Windows Mobile/Pocket PC, increase in groups from 50 to 500 per library, and over 50 enhancements.

If you cannot download EndNote you can borrow the EndNote program installation disk (check which version you need) from either the Cairns or Townsville Library Services (Loans) Desks. The loan period is two days. It is permitted to make a copy of the installation disk in case you need it later.

James Cook University has purchased a site licence for EndNote. EndNote is available to all registered students, academics and other employees of James Cook University. It can be installed on faculty computers at James Cook University, or at home for work directly related to the University. Other conditions also apply. Please consult JCU's conditions of use statement.

If you download the software you will be asked to register and to agree to the licence conditions before proceeding.
