JCU Certificate of Authority

A Certificate Authority public key is way of certifying the identity of web sites on the internet and email addresses. JCU uses the following Certificate Authority key to authenticate secure JCU web pages and certain JCU email addresses. Once you load the certificate into your web browser, it will authenticate any web site which has been certified by it.

If you use Mozilla Thunderbird for reading email, it will also authenticate email addresses which have been certified by it. This means that, with the CA key loaded, Thunderbird will be able to automatically verify any digitally signed email is from who it says it's from as long as it was signed using a key certified by the JCU CA key.

To install the key:

  • Go to the web page: http://www.jcu.edu.au/cacert.crt
  • Follow the prompts to install or save.
  • Accept the CA Permanently.
  • Click on the Finish button to complete the process.
