Asian Language Support on the GATCF computers

InfoHelp LogoAn InfoHelp How To...? Guide

There is now an option on the GATCF computers to enable users to create documents using East Asian characters. It works by intercepting the keystrokes as you type and creates the appropriate Asian character in the document.

Each application can have its own language specified so keep in mind you will have to follow these instructions for each application you want to change.

Step 1: Open the application you are going to change ( Word, Notepad, Internet Explorer )

Step 2: Click on the Langauge Bar icon in the bottom right corner of the screen

Step 3: Choose the language you wish to use.

Step 4: As you type in the application you will see the text appearing in the chosen language automatically. In the case where there may be several options available a dialog box will appear where you can choose which character to use.

Additional Information:
Microsoft has some more information on their website, mainly how to use Input Method Editors to create Japanese, Korean, and Chinese documents. This website is maintained by Microsoft so it may change outside of our control and instructions may differ on some computers.
