What is ePouch?
Your ePouch is your online credit system. It is used to store set and paid quota. The Internet Accounting system is used to account for Internet access at JCU. JCU students are provided with a set quota that entitles them to access and download information for their coursework. This quota is credited to a student’s ePouch as Subject Quota. Subject Quota is for Internet Access only and is not able to be used for any other paid for service. Once the ePouch Subject Quota credit limit has been reached, Internet Access becomes a paid service. Credit can be added:
- Online by credit card through StudentsOnline. The minimum transaction is $20.
- Cash/EFTPOS payments can be made at Lending Services in the Library (Townsville & Cairns) or the Cashiers Office located in Humanities II building Townsville and A1 Building in Cairns. The minimum payment is $5.
- GST is deducted when printing occurs.
Any payments made via a credit card or cash are stored in the ePouch as paid credit. A students' ePouch can therefore be made up of set Subject Quota and paid credit. Students will now be able to use that paid credit stored in their ePouch for either LabPrint or Internet Access.
Financial and Business Services has advised that there will be no mechanism to claim unused subject-based or ePouch (paid) quota once paid, even at the end of a degree.
How long will it take for payments to be available for use?
Cash payments made for LabPrint at Lending Services or Cashiers Office will be available for use within 1 to 2 minutes of the completion of the transaction.
How does it work?
Students are able to select the Print function from any application that they are using on a GATCF workstation. The job can then be released to the printer from a Web Page at the workstation. The exception to this are the HX GATCF Labs and the Library InfoCommons Labs where GATCF workstations have been setup.
A Print Release station is located next to the Printer. Students login to this station to see a list of their jobs which they can release to the printer. In order to send the next print jobs wait for the page to reload. Print Release station has been setup in these areas because of the central printer location, other GATCF labs have a printer in each room and jobs can be released from the local workstations.
What printing Options are available?
The default printing layout is duplex printing i.e. printing on both sides of the page. This will reduce student printing costs. Students can opt to print single-sided if they wish. Please note that duplex printing is only available from HX Annex area and the Library InfoCommons.
The LabPrint web page:
- lists a student’s print jobs in the printer queue displays a thumbnail view of each print job in that queue. The student can click on the thumbnail view to preview the document before they print it.
- displays a student’s current paid quota available for use, the cost of the job that is to be printed, and whether sufficient funds are available.
- details of the job e.g. A4 size, number of pages, output layout (duplex or single)
- displays options to print or delete a job from the print job queue.
