Brownhill, Kirk and Co. Ltd Realty Records 1910-1946

The Townsville real estate firm of Brownhill, Kirk and Company commenced operation some time prior to 1904 in an office in Denham Street, Townsville (where the S.G.I.O. Building now stands). The Company was registered in 1904. It later occupied Bartlett's Building in Denham Street.
The firm has now become Kingsberry, Brownhill Kirk Realty and is located in Hollimans Arcade, Flinders Street.
These ledgers are the private land sales records of Mr. Herbert Richard Howell who, over a 60 year association with the firm rose from the position of office boy with the company to owner. Mr. Howell sold the company upon his retirement .
The ledgers cover sales of parcels of land within North Queensland conducted by Brownhill, Kirk Ltd., and include land sales in, for example, the Burdekin district, Charters Towers, Cloncurry, Innisfail etc., as well as in Townsville.
