- This site is aimed primarily at recipients of Social Security

Institute of Family Studies - The Institute is a Commonwealth
statutory authority established in 1980 to promote the identification
and understanding of factors affecting marital and family stability
in Australia. This site contains media releases, research
programs, topical databases, and full-text of the Family Matters
journal.

Support Agency (CSA) - This site provides access to

National Centre for Social & Economic Modelling
- NATSEM's key area of expertise lies in developing microsimulation

The
Info Xchange - Is an online, computer-based community
information network offering access to accurate, up-to-date information
on Community Support Services and related issues 24 hours a day,
7 days a week. Also has a resource of useful website links.
BUBL Link -Social Welfare - A list of internet resouces grouped in catalogue number order. Search by subject or classification number. Adoption
Australia Origins - An organisation that supports those separated
by adoption. It is a comprehensive site with many interesting
links.

Queensland - An association for adopted persons, birth/relinquishing
parents and adoptive parents.
Adoptee
Internet Library - A vast list of links related to adoptees
by the Adoptee Rights Organisation.
Child Welfare Information Gateway - This is
a comprehensive resource on all aspects of adoption in the United
States and includes information and data for infant, intercountry,
and special needs adoption, and organisation directories and bibliographic
databases. Also contains resources on child abuse and neglect.
The
Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute - An American site aimed
at adoption professionals or those with an interest in adoption,
which provides up-to-date information on adoption research, policy
and practice. There is a useful database of adoption resources
dating back to 1938, which provides abstracts of articles on a
variety of adoption categories.
Queensland Government - Seniors - A site under the The Department of
Communities which is a Queensland Government agency committed
to promoting and supporting human services to Queenslanders. It
contains information on state government concessions, publications,
statistics, resources and other useful information.
Aged
and Community Services Australia - Provides national leadership
to church, charitable and community providers of aged and community
services.
COTA
National Seniors - An independent consumer organisation based
on the partnership between Councils on the Ageing and National
Seniors Association. The organisations aim is to protect and promote
the well-being of all older people.

of Health and Aged Care - Australian Government department
containing publications, as well as links to relevant agencies,

Australian Association of Gerontology - A charitable
organisation devoted to raising and allocating funds for research into

Child Protection Clearinghouse - An Australian organisation
that collects, shares, monitors, and distributes information on
the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
Kids
Help Line - A national telephone counselling service for young
people aged 5-18 years. Contains useful Infosheets on a
range of issues and problems.

Material
is mainly from the United States. Contains
information on Child Abuse and Neglect and Adoption. Child Welfare Information Gateway provides access to information and resources to help protect children and strengthen families.

Australian Institute of Criminology - The national focus
for the study of crime and criminal justice in Australia.
Crime and Misconduct Commission - The Crime
and Misconduct Commission (CMC) was formed on 1 January 2002 with
the merger of the Criminal Justice Commission (CJC) and the Queensland
Crime Commission (QCC). Its purpose is to combat and reduce major
crime in Queensland, improve the integrity of the Queensland public
sector, and reduce the incidence of misconduct in the Queensland
public sector.

Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS) - Is one of the
most extensive sources of information on criminal and juvenile
justice in the world, providing services to an international community
of policy makers and professionals.

Service database contains abstracts of more than 140,000 criminal
justice publications, including reports, books, journal articles,
and unpublished research. Subject areas include corrections,
courts, drugs and crime, law enforcement, juvenile justice, crime

Australian
Drug Foundation - An independent nonprofit organisation working
to prevent and reduce alcohol and drug problems in the Australian
community. The Centre for Youth Drug Studies is also
contained in this site, and is the only organisation in Australia
to focus solely on drug use and youth.
Alcohol
and Other Drugs Council of Australia - The peak, national
non-government organisation representing the interests of the
alcohol and other drugs field.

Alcohol Campaign - Contains information for parents, the media,
and service providers.

Concerns - Drug and Alcohol - This site is part of the NSW
Health Department, and has comprehensive information on specific
drugs and their harmful effects.
National Clearinghouse for Alcohol & Drug Information - From the US Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services. Narcotics Anonymous - This American-based site offers links to Narcotics Anonymous groups around the world. Included is the 12-step program adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous. Voluntary

Australian
Clearinghouse for Youth Studies - An excellent site
which provides information products and services for health workers,
policy makers, researchers, educators, youth workers, etc. Contains a worldwide list of scholarly journals on youth and adolescence,
and the Topics option and databases are extremely useful. ACYS
also publish the journal Youth Studies Australia (305.23
P2).
Database
of Youth Organisations - Produced by ACYS, it identifies organisations
in Australia which focus on youth issues or provide services to
youth.
The
Australian Youth Foundation - An independent, non-government
organisation that provides funding for projects that assist young
Australians who are socially, financially, physically, or intellectually
disadvantaged. The site contains project information, statistics,
policies, and research.
A
World of Prevention - A worldwide directory of
programs, research, references and resources dedicated to the
prevention of youth problems and the promotion of youth development.
National
Youth Violence Prevention Resource Center - An electronic
gateway to federal information on youth violence prevention and
suicide in the U.S. From the home page, three audience levels
are catered for: Parents & Guardians; Professionals; and Teens.
School
Violence Prevention - From the Center for Mental Health Services
(U.S.), this site provides a comprehensive community-wide and
school-wide approach "to promote the development of healthy behaviours,
competence, and resilience in school aged children and youth,
in order to decrease the level of violence in schools." It includes
samples of model programs, information and links about violence
prevention, publications about kids' behaviour and emotions for
parents, and guides to dealing with emergencies.
Youth Violence: A Report of the Surgeon General - Originally commissioned in response to the Columbine High School shootings, the Surgeon General's report on youth violence "examines the factors that lead young people to gravitate toward violence, reviews the factors that protect youth from perpetrating violence and identifies effective research-based preventative strategies." The report identifies 27 specific intervention programs that have shown themselves to be statistically successful, while also discussing many common myths about youth violence. Parenting Adolescents - Responses to questions about parenting teens and pre-teens. The responses are formulated by licensed clinical social workers. The site is searchable and includes links to additional resources as well as a free email newsletter.
