- Endanger: Threatened Species in Australia Indexes published and unpublished material on Australian threatened flora and fauna and related topics
- Faculty of 1000 Biology Reviews and evaluates the most interesting papers published in the biological sciences, based on the recommendations of a faculty of well over 1000 selected leading researchers.
- IngentaConnect provides book and journal article searches as well as search alerting and tables of contents services.
- The International Plant
Names Index Database of the names and associated
basic bibliographical details of all seed plants. Includes records previously
published in Index Kewensis and in Australian Plant Names Index.
- SciFinder
Scholar Primarily a chemistry database, but with significant
coverage of the life sciences.
- Web of Science Access
to Science Citation Index Expanded and other citation indexes.
As well as topic searching for journal articles, the citation indexes
allow "cited reference" searching and enable you to examine
a document's historical origin and follow through to its current position
in the research literature.
Full text databases and electronic journals
- BioOne Access is provided to over 65 bioscience research journals from more than 50 publishers
- Expanded
Academic ASAP - (via InfoTrac) - full-text articles from around 2,000 journals, and abstracts or citations for many more.
- ScienceDirect
- full-text for around 300 of 1700 titles, with contents pages and
abstracts for the remainder.
- Wiley
InterScience - provides full-text of around 400 Wiley journals
back to 1997.
- ProQuest includes ProQuest Science Journals and other databases covering a
range of disciplines.
- Electronic
journals - linked, alphabetical listing of full-text journals
available to members of James Cook University

- World Biodiversity
Database Provides taxonomic information, species names, synonyms,
descriptions, illustrations and literature references when available
on 200,000 taxa. The database can be explored using an expandable tree
of the five taxonomic kingdoms or by typing in a common or scientific
name.
