  Journal articles

Journal articles are good sources of scholarly information.

Information is published in journal articles before it becomes available in books or reference materials.

Journals are issued regularly (this could be weekly, monthly or quarterly) and are found in the Periodicals Collection of the Library.

Journal articles are generally shorter than books. Each issue of a journal contains several articles. These articles need not be on related topics.

The articles often assume that the reader has considerable background knowledge of the topic and they usually focus on very specific issues.
