    Full text databases

  • CCH Library Provides access to an electronic database of books, journals and other information published by CCH. The University subscribes to many publications in the CCH Tax, Corporations, Family, Torts and Conveyancing Law Collections including titles such as Australian Company Law Cases and Australian Master Tax Guide.
  • Lawbook Online A database of Law Book Company publications. JCU subscribes to the case law research tool FirstPoint, the legal encyclopaedia The Laws of Australia and to ASIC Corporate Investigations and Hearings. as well as a collection of law journals.
  • LexisNexis AU Provides access to electronic legal publications subscribed by the University. Currently these are: Carter's Criminal Law of Queensland, New South Wales Law Reports (1971+), and Queensland Reports (1980+). Note: Additional (Butterworths) Australian publications are available on Lexis. Follow the link to Legal (excluding US) and then to Australia.
  • LexisNexis Provides full text primary legal materials from many jurisdictions including the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Community, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Secondary sources, including journals, law reviews and indexes are also available.
  • Westlaw Australia Provides full-text access to Australian primary legal materials - case law, statutes and reports including Commonwealth Law Reports, Federal Court Reports, Federal Law Reports, Australian Tax Reports, Australian Criminal Reports, Local Government and Environment Reports of Australia and unreported judgments from a number of jurisdictions.

  • Australian Guide to Legal Citation This is the citation style recommended to JCU law students. Paper copies are held in Townsville and Cairns at 340.072 AUS (Reserve)

  • AustLII Australasian Legal Information Institute Excellent coverage of Australian legal material, particularly primary sources.
  • Australian Law on the Internet From the National Library of Australia. Includes useful guidesto Australian law
  • Australian Law Online This is the official gateway to the Commonwealth Attorney General's Department
  • Update to Researching Australian Law By Nicholas Pengelly
  • ComLaw Part of Australian Law Online. Commonwealth legislation, including the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments (FRLI). "From 1 January 2005 all new primary and subordinate legislation that is made will be published on ComLaw/FRLI as relevant, not to SCALEplus. However, SCALEplus will continue to be available to users until all relevant material, including historical material, is migrated to ComLaw."
  • SCALEplus From January 2005 new Commonwealth legislation will be made available on ComLaw and all SCALEplus resources will gradually be migrated to ComLaw
  • Weblaw A subject index to internet resources for Australian legal researchers. This is a cooperative project maintained by a number of Australian law libraries.
