If you are off campus using your own internet service provider you have to enable remote access before you can use JCU subscribed resources.

Business Focus is a current awareness and resource finding blog maintained by the Liaison Librarians for the School of Business. It's a great way of discovering new resources and keeping up to date on JCU Library issues that effect your studies.

Databases

  • ABI Inform Global - key international business and management database, includes tourism content. Links to the full text of many journal articles. Available via Proquest.
    Australian Bureau of Statistics - provides web based information and data collected and analysed by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
  • Australian Public Affairs Indexing Service (APAIS) - a broad multidisciplinary resource focusing on Australia. It provides fulltext of articles where available. Available via Informit
  • Expanded Academic ASAP - indexes articles of general academic interest withsignificant coverage in the area of tourism. Links to the full text of many journal articles. Available via InfoTrac
  • Hospitality & tourism complete - index and abstract coverage dating as far back as 1965, full text from more than 200 publications. Subject areas covered include demographics & statistics, development & investment, food & beverage management, hospitality law, hotel management & administrative practices, leisure & business travel, market trends, technology.
  • Leisure, Recreation and Tourism Abstracts - LRTA is one of the databases available on CAB International, covers the period 1996 onwards. It is available online via CABDirect.

  • Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA) - a key part of the Authority's role is the ecologically sustainable management of tourism and recreation in the marine park.
  • International Federation for Information Technology and Tourism - IFITT aims to promote discussion about information technologies in the field of tourism.
  • Pacific Asia Travel Association - the PATA site includes news, research and other resources.
  • South Pacific Tourism Organisation - the inter-governmental body for the tourism sector in the region, with the mission to "Market and Develop Tourism in the South Pacific".
  • Tourism Australia - provides statistics and other information relating to tourism in Australia.
  • Tourism Council Australia - national tourism industry body representing more than 30,000 members and affiliated tourism and travel enterprises.
  • Tourism @ Dept. of Industry, Tourism and Resources - responsible for developing and implementing federal government tourism policy. Site includes policy, guidelines, statistics and more.
  • Tourism Offices Worldwide Directory - guide to official tourist information sources: government tourism offices, convention and visitors bureaus, chambers of commerce, and similar organizations that provide free, accurate, and unbiased travel information to the public. Businesses such as travel agents, tour operators, and hotels are not included.
  • Tourism Queensland - news and media assistance, business tools, industry information and development strategies. Tourism Queensland is a statutory authority of the Queensland Government.
  • Tourism Tropical North Queensland - the official Regional Tourism Organisation for Tropical North Queensland region of Australia, which includes: Cairns, Cairns Beaches and Palm Cove, Port Douglas, Daintree & Cape Tribulation, Cooktown, Cape York Peninsula, the Gulf Savannah, Kuranda and Cairns Highlands and Mission Beach.
  • World Tourism Organisation - forum for tourism policy issues and source of practical information. 
    World Tourism Directory.com - comprehensive tourism industry directory including contact information for ministries of tourism; national, regional, local tourist boards; tourism and travel industry associations; inbound tour operators; airline companies; accommodation associations; outdoor and recreational activity associations; tourism media (press and consumer); general country information sources.
  • World Travel and Tourism Council - global forum for travel and tourism business leaders, some reports and forecasts available.

  • DocuTicker Transportation and Travel Archive - offers a hand-picked selection of resources, reports and publications from government agencies, NGOs, think tanks and other public interest organizations.
  • Hospitality.net - includes sections focusing on technology, environment, human resources as well as sections on: industry news, jobs and events.
  • Internet For Travel and Tourism - an Internet tutorial designed to help Tourism students get the most value out of their Internet research.
  • Leisuretourism.com - from CABI Publishing, provides information on leisure, tourism, recreation, sport and more, access to news updates, reviews, and relevant sites. Additional resources available to subscribers, no obligation a free 60-day trial available.
  • Sustainable Tourism CRC - established under the Australian Government’s Cooperative Research Centres Programme to underpin the development of a dynamic, internationally competitive, and sustainable tourism industry. Follow the links to the bookshop for free downloads of their handbooks, research reports and surveys.
  • Tourism Education Website - UK site provides resources and links for tourism educators and students.
  • Tourism Research Links - the site for links in Tourism reseach. Rene Waksberg has created a comprehensive global listing, site includes multiple links to government organisations, research institutes online journals, news and more.
