Welcome to the resources pages for the School of Creative Arts. This page looks at resources relevant to the Core subjects (CV) and pages that are relevant across the different subject strands.The SoCA Highlights Blog is a great way to find new resources, or explore some of the older ones. It looks at interesting resources right across the Creative Arts disciplines, covering Visual Arts, Music, Photography, Digital Media and Theatre... among other things. Make sure you visit it every week or so to see what's out there in the big wild world of web.

- General Information

- Database Guides to read online or printout to help in using internet resources.
- Australian Public Affairs Indexing Service (APAIS) - a broad multidisciplinary resource focusing on Australia. It provides full text of articles where available. Available via Informit.
- Expanded Academic ASAP - indexes articles of general academic interest. Links to the full text of many journal articles. Available via InfoTrac.
- ERIC via CSA - Contains citations of education related articles
- ProQuest - Proquest provides articles in abstract as well as full text across a range of subjects in the Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities
- Web of Science- Includes Arts and Humanities Citation Index. One of the better databases for Arts subjects offered by JCU at present
- Project Muse (Arts and Humanities) Full text coverage of hundreds of journals.
- Xrefer (now known as Credo Reference - This online, full text, reference library includes encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauri and books of quotations, as well as subject specific titles from art, to literature, to law.
- Intute: Arts and Humanities Gateway providing free online access to a variety of webpage's for education and research. Over 115,000 high quality educational web resources selected and annotated by subject specialists at several UK universities.
- Adam A gateway to art, design, architecture and media information. Soon to be superceded.
- BUBL Link Catalogue of Internet Resources. Browsable by Dewey Decimal numbers.
- Internet Movie Database One of the most commonly consulted databases concerning movies and television programmes.

- The Broadsheet A free magazine dedicated to visual arts and culture. A publication of the Contemporary Arts Center of South Australia.

- Microsoft Office Suites - by Microsoft. Offers 'help', downloads and trials
- WordPerfect X3 Suite - by Corel. Highly compatible office software. Can save documents in a number of different file-types, including Word and PDF. Suite includes Spreadsheet and Presentation software which are completely comparable with Microsoft applications, as well as Lotus and several other platforms
- StarOffice Suite - by Sun Microsystems. Cheaper alternative to WordPerfect software. Offers the ability to save files in various formats, including Word and PDF
- OpenOffice - a Freeware version of StarOffice. It doesn't come with as many bells and whistles, but it does the job, and it's free. Works on all platforms, saves in multiple file types
